What are invoices on Contra?
Send invoices on Contra for free—this is the easiest way to send one-off payment request to your clients, whether or not they’re on Contra. This is the simplest and fastest way to get paid commission-free on Contra. Note that invoice payments are non-refundable.

Any freelancer can create and send invoices on Contra.

How do I send invoices to my Clients?
To send an invoice, navigate to Your Projects & Invoices tab and click “Send Invoice.”

Can I track the status of my invoices?
Yes! To track the status of your invoice, navigate to your Projects & Invoices tab, click on a Project from your list, and navigate to the invoice tab within the Project to view the status of your invoice.
Can I add an invoice to an existing project?
Yes! You can add invoices to active paid projects if there are additional revisions or deliverables required. Go to the invoice tab within your project and click “new invoice.” This invoice will remain payable even if the project itself is completed.
How do I know if my Client has received my invoice?
We send your client an email letting them know they’ve received an invoice seconds after you send it. They’ll be notified via email and in the app to pay on the due date.
Is there a limit to the number of invoices I can create?
Nope, you can send as many invoices as you’d like.

Can I generate invoices in different currencies?
Currently, we only support invoices in USD, but we are working to support more currencies.
Can I generate invoices for past dates?
Yes, you can create invoices retroactively. Just set the issue date in the past.
Can I send reminders to Clients for overdue invoices?
No need—we already automatically send emails and alerts to your client when an invoice is due (or overdue).
Can I export invoices to PDF?
Yes, just go to the invoices tab within your project, click “view,” and click “download PDF.”
Can I add notes or comments to my invoices?
Yes! Each invoice comes with a “memo” section where you can add any additional information.
Can I view the history of all my invoices?
Yes! Invoices will always remain in the project where they were generated.
Can I cancel or void an invoice after it has been sent?
Yes! As long as an invoice is “unpaid" you can cancel the invoice. This will automatically make the invoice void.
My invoice is not sending, what should I do?

Can I send invoices to Clients who are not on Contra?
Yes! You can send invoices to clients who are not on Contra. Just add their email address to the “bill to” section and send.
Do Clients need to sign up to pay invoices?
Nope. Clients don’t need to sign up or be logged in to pay an invoice. Contra offers a free guest checkout so that clients can pay invoices within seconds.
